Spirits experts Tristan Stephenson, the Curious Bartender, created this Easter cocktail recipe exclusively for Lidl using our Hortus gin. 'It wouldn't be Easter without an egg in your drink – after all, there's a long history of egg in cocktails, but it's usually the white that bartenders use, to give foaminess and mousse-like texture. In a golden fizz, the yolk adds body as well as a golden opacity, giving weight and an unctuous quality. In this version the sherry and cinnamon bring about flavours reminiscent of a hot cross bun.'

  1. Shake everything except the soda in a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
  2. Strain the liquid out of the shaker, get rid of the ice, then shake again to aerate (known as a dry shake).
  3. Run a slice of lemon around the edge of a chilled highball glass and dip into a dish coated with a layer of cinnamon to coat the rim.
  4. Finally, pour the liquid in to a chilled highball glass and top up a little with soda water.
