Preparation
- Beat the egg, then add to a mixing bowl with the mince and mustard and season with salt and pepper. Using your hands, mix until everything comes together. Tip out onto a clean surface and divide into five. Roll each piece into a burger shape. Cooking now:
- Place a frying pan over a medium heat. Add a splash of oil then fry the burgers for 3-4 minutes on each side until cooked through. Place a slice of cheese on top of each burger and cover the pan. Cook for 45-60 seconds until the cheese has melted. Slice up the brioche buns and place the cheeseburgers on the bun bases with some burger sauce and salad leaves. Pop on the bun tops to serve. To freeze:
- Place the uncooked burgers into a labelled freezer bag, adding a slice of parchment paper in between each burger if stacking on top of each other to stop them from sticking. Cooking from frozen:
- Remove the burgers from the freezer and leave to defrost. Cook as instructed in the ‘cooking now’ section.
Suzanne shows the Evans how making burgers from scratch is cheaper than pre-made and a great family activity too. With an extra batch made for the freezer, they’ve also got a quick and easy family favourite ready to go.
