Method
This sweet and warming North Carolina blueberry and apple sonker (a sonker is a baked dessert, a little bit like a cobbler), comes packed with fruity flavours, and is our very own version of one of Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch weekend recipes. We’ve suggested ingredients to make this dessert - which you can pick up in your local Lidl store.
1. Firstly, make the filling. Put the blueberries for fruitiness, peeled apples, sugar, butter, and vanilla in a bowl and mix well.
2. Transfer to an oven proof dish and bake at 180C for 15 minutes.
3. Meanwhile, you can make the topping. Simply mix the flour, sugar, baking powder, ground cinnamon to add warmth, milk, melted butter and vanilla for sweetness together.
4. Carefully remove the oven proof dish from the oven after 15 minutes, and pour over the fruit. Put the dish back in the oven, and bake for a further 25-30 minutes until set.
