Preparation

Dare them to munch their way through a caterpillar and transform into veggie lovers! And if you want to make your caterpillar plant-based, why not replace the chicken with falafels?

  1. Preheat 180c, bake baguettes for 8mins, cool and slice horizontally.

  2. Spread hummus onto the bottom halves of the baguettes, then drape 3 slices of chicken onto each one. Top the chicken with 2 tomato slices (8 slices in total).

  3. Place the 4 baguettes halves onto a board or plate, creating a wave like shape in the form of a caterpillar body.

  4. To make the caterpillar face, use the remaining tomato slices. Lay each slice onto the end of your caterpillar body. Halve one of the tiny pepper slices, and use them for the antennae on top of the tomato face. Use the remaining sliced peppers as clouds and 2 slices of cucumber for the eyes.

  5. To create the feet, use the halved and sliced cucumbers. Lay them under the bottom side of the baguettes – put 3 feet under each baguette half.

  6. Pick your caterpillar and top with the upper, plain half of the baguette and enjoy.
