Method
Whether you drink them for flavour or for their notorious healing qualities, a Bloody Mary recipe deserves pride of place in any good repertoire. While it might take a little extra effort to prepare bacon for the garnish its salty, smoky flavour greatly improves the finished result.
- Fry the bacon until crisp in a hot pan and set aside on kitchen paper until required. Wipe the fat from the pan with kitchen towel and fry the tomatoes for 5 minutes, until blistered.
- Add the vodka, paprika, chipotle sauce, lemon juice, gherkin liquid, Worcestershire sauce and seasoning to a long glass and stir using the celery stick until completely combined.
- Fill the glass with ice and top with tomato juice, mixing again with the celery stick. Adjust the seasoning to taste and garnish with the crispy bacon, blistered tomatoes and gherkin to serve.
