Preparation
- Stir the mayonnaise and mustard together in a large mixing bowl for creaminess and a bit of a kick. Coarsely grate the carrot, finely shred the cabbage and toss into the bowl for crunch. Grate in 2 of the apples (discarding the core) for sweetness. Mix well.
- Heat the oil in a frying pan and fry the red onions on a medium heat for 5 minutes with a pinch of salt. Core and slice the other 2 apples into wedges. Add these to the pan with the brown sugar and cider vinegar and cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until sticky and caramelised.
- Cook the Bockwurst or sausages following pack instructions. Split the hot dog rolls and toast the cut sides for crunch. Spoon a little apple slaw into each roll, followed by a sausage, then top with the caramelised apples and onions and serve.
