This is a simple yet sophisticated cocktail that uses our Hortus Summer Gin, gently flavoured with rosehip and hibiscus with a tangy freshness provided by orange, lemon and bergamot peels. Cranberry juice adds tartness, while the addition of fresh lemon juice and sugar beautifully balances this refreshing cocktail.

  1. Begin by making the sugar syrup. Gently heat 2 parts of sugar to 1 part water in a pan until it dissolves to form a smooth syrup. Measure out 10ml and set aside the rest to use in other cocktails.
  2. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice and add the gin, cranberry, lemon juice, egg white and sugar syrup.
  3. Shake well, then strain into a glass filed with more ice. Top up with soda water and garnish with a slice of lemon.
